U.S. markets had a strong week last week as the S&P 500 rose 2.4% and the Dow Jones gained 2.3%, boosted by strong earnings reports. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield crossed 3% in the middle of last week, but ended slightly lower due to a weaker-than-expected inflation report.

The University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index remains strong in May as survey respondents increased their inflation expectations to 2.8% from 2.7%, reducing their anticipated income, and predicting unemployment rate stabilization instead of a further decline.
