The latest round of trade tariff threats between the U.S. and China along with political debate about domestic immigration policy dominated headlines this week. The technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite and broad-based S&P 500 Index closed the week with moderate losses, while the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a larger decline.
In fixed income markets, yields on the benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury bond traded in a range of 2.86% to 2.94%. U.S. crude oil prices surged higher on Friday, eclipsing $69 per barrel following OPEC and its allies' decision to increase global output by a smaller amount than expected.
